First-most all traditional AC devices with power consumption more that 100W.

Additionally, following (and similar) devices are not suitable for powering with PPG-140 because of modified sine inverter:

  • Laser printers, photocopiers, magneto-optical hard drives
  • Certain laptop computers
  • Some fluorescent lights with electronic ballasts
  • Power tools employing “solid state” power or variable speed control
  • Some battery chargers for cordless tools
  • Digital clocks with radios
  • Sewing machines with speed/microprocessor control
  • X-10 home automation systems
  • Medical equipment such as oxygen concentrators

Considering that PPG-280 comes with integrated pure sine inverter, there are no limitations regarding device types. The only limitation is power consumption which should not exceed 500W.

When you place FSP-040 in direct sunlight under perfect conditions it will take 5-10 hours to fully charge your PPG-280.

Capacity in terms of mAh or AH have meaning only in relation with voltage current. Device has integrated Lithium 3.7V battery pack with 93600 mAh capacity, which in theory should provide 346WH of energy. However, actual outputs have different voltages – 5V, 12V/16V/19V DC and 230V AC. Moreover, integrated electronics that convert or invert battery voltage to specific output voltage has certain overhead thus actual capacity is smaller. In our laboratory tests actual capacity was determined to be slightly over 280WH. So we can calculate capacity in mAh by using formula (Wh)*1000/(V) =(mAh) which will give us:

  • 5V – 56000 mAh (56 AH)
  • 12V – 23333 mAh (23 AH)
  • 230V – 1217 mAh (1.2 AH)

Generally, Lithium batteries will keep charged up to 24 months. But in order to maintain battery capacity we advise to recharge your PPG once per 3 months.

The primary job of an inverter is to convert the DC (Direct Current) power from the battery bank or solar panels to AC (Alternating Current) power. To do that, it must take the constant DC voltage and change it to a sine wave curve that goes above and below 0 (zero) volts. When inverters first came out, the most common way to do this was to make the voltage go straight up and down, creating a blocky signal. This is called modified sine wave. More advanced modified sine waves make multiple steps, trying to come close to a pure sine wave. A modified sine wave inverter can be used for simple systems that don’t have any delicate electronics or audio equipment that may pick up the choppy wave and produce a hum. Your digital clock will likely act funky, and battery rechargers quite often just plain won’t work. Some equipment may seem to be working fine, but may run hotter than with a pure sine wave.

The following devices are not suitable for powering with Modified Sine Wave inverters:

The watt-hour (symbolized Wh) is a unit of energy equivalent to one watt (1 W) of power expended for one hour (1 h) of time, it’s a way to measure the amount of work performed or generated. In case of energy storage devices it provides trustful and comparative value to express actual capacity. Whereas most power-banks on the market are specifying only mAh without revealing associated voltage, thus does not reflect actual capacity and are misleading.

Capacity in terms of mAh or AH have meaning only in relation with voltage current. Device has integrated Lithium Polymer 3.7V battery pack with 40800 mAh capacity, which in theory should provide 150WH or energy. However, actual outputs have different voltages – 5V, 12V and 220V. Moreover, integrated electronics that convert or invert battery voltage to specific output voltage has certain overhead thus actual capacity is smaller. In our laboratory tests actual (effective) output capacity was determined to be 140WH. So we can calculate output capacity in mAh by using formula (Wh)*1000/(V) =(mAh) which will give us:

  • 28000 mAh (28 AH) – 5V
  • 11666 mAh (11,66 AH)- 12V
  • 636 mAh (0.6 AH) – 220V
